
For many, the thought of going to the gym can be a daunting experience.
But the anxiety it may cause you, can be overcome.
Here are 5 ways you can do it...
1 . Go with a Friend
Going with someone you trust and know can make stepping through the gym doors a lot easier
2 . Book an induction
A good gym should provide an Induction as part of your membership package. Take advantage of this and reap the benefit of a trained professional showing you where everything is and how you can make the most of your time there.
3 . Avoid peak times
Most gyms see a lot of people getting in between the hours of 6-8am and 5-7pm. If you get overwhelmed or feel intimidated with lots of people, try and avoid these times.
4 . Go with a plan
Not being sure of what to do in the gym causes a lot of anxiety for people. Go in there with a plan of what you are going to do. Structured workout plans can be found online these days or you could also invest in a coach who will personalise one for you.
5 . Acknowledge your fears
Don't dismiss your fears or anxiety. Spend a few minutes noting down what it is that makes you nervous about going to the gym. Being aware of the reasons will help you when it comes to tackling it.
