5 things you need to know about fat loss

When learning to become a Personal Trainer, I was taught a lot of information, just like you would expect when first starting out.


But very little of that information was based around what the majority of people I have since worked with have been looking to achieve, which is fat loss.


It was 2011 when I completed my training and in truth, the Fitness Industry was full of misleading information on how best to lose fat. From certain exercises you must do, supplements you must take, foods you must restrict, the list was endless.


I really wish someone had just told me what I have since learned and what I am about to share with you now.


Fat loss is certainly not an easy thing to achieve. But I definitely think it has been made harder to accomplish for the general population, due to the sheer amount of misinformation out there.


So, if you are looking to achieve fat loss, here are 5 things you need to know...


1 . The only way to lose fat is to expend more calories than you consume.


Distance yourself from anyone who tries to tell you any different.


2 . Losing fat does not mean restricting yourself of the things that you enjoy.


You can still eat foods like Pizza, Chocolate and Ice Cream and lose fat at the same time, providing you are in a calorie deficit.


3 . You don't put on fat overnight, so you aren't going to lose it overnight either.


Depending on how much fat you are looking to lose, it can take time.


So remember to stay consistent with your habits & remain patient.


4 .You can't pick and choose where you lose fat from.


So ditch those belly fat blasting workout (which do nothing) and focus on being in a calorie deficit.


Over time you will lose fat in those stubborn areas.


5 . There is no magic exercise you can do when it comes to losing fat.


The best exercise for you is the one you most enjoy and can be consistent with.


So whether that is strength training, running or HIIT, do something you actually enjoy.
