I'm a firm believer that the best way to lose fat is by tracking your calorie intake each day.
It's a process I have had success with myself and with a host of my clients too.
However, I do appreciate it can often seem like a chore and it can take a while to get used to, especially if you are new to the process.
Here are 3 tips I use when tracking my calories...
1 . Input my meals ahead of time
Life can be busy and it can be easy to forget to log what you have had to eat. Especially if you have a long day at work, have an appointment to attend or need to take the Kids to there after school activities.
Something that works for me is inputting my meals in the morning ahead of time. This way, all my food is logged in one go and I don't need to worry about logging things at different points of the day, creating more stress for myself.
The added bonus of this is that I know exactly what I will be eating that day, so all I have to focus on is making it or eating it.
2 . Save meals that you eat regularly
Most of us are creatures of habit, we like to eat the same things regularly.
If that is the case for you, then do what I do and save those meals so that you can input them quickly.
The last thing you want to be doing is scanning or searching for 10-15 different ingredients every single time. It may take 5-10 minutes to create the saved meal but it will save you a hell of a lot of time in the long run.
3 . Focus on just calories and protein
I used to stress over trying to get my macros absolutely perfect. I would sit for hours and try to work out meal options that would not only hit my calories, but would also hit my Protein, Carbs and Fats to the exact number too!
What a kn*b
When it comes to fat loss, the only things that matter are sticking to your calories and hitting your protein target. So keep it simple for yourself and focus on those things only. Should you do that, carbs and fats are down to personal preference, so go with whatever feels right for you.
BONUS TIP
Download the app 'Nutracheck' it is a game changer!
For years I used 'My Fitness Pal' to track calories and to be honest, I never really liked it, finding it quite awkward to navigate.
'Nutracheck' is much more user friendly and has a host of useful features such as setting easy days and restaurant guides in the UK too.
I've recommended this to many of my clients and they also agree.
Be aware though, it is a paid app but you do get a 7 day free trial to see if it's for you.
Note - I am in no way linked to 'Nutracheck', I just think its an amazing app which makes achieving fat loss easier for people, so like to spread the word
Hope this helps!
